The Mar Menor coast has its own food culture — unhurried, generous, and deeply rooted in the sea. Fresh fish landed that morning, rice dishes slow-cooked in wide pans, seafood pulled straight from the lagoon. Much of it is wonderfully simple to recreate at home with ingredients from the local market. This is food that asks you to slow down, sit outside, and savour.
🥘 Arroz con mariscos - Arroz con mariscos — the signature of this coastline. Prawns, mussels, squid, and saffron-rich rice cooked together in one pan. Easy to make at home, impossible to forget.
🖤 Black fideuà Noodles cooked in squid ink with octopus and prawns — dramatic to look at, extraordinary to eat. A dish that tells you exactly where you are.
🦑 Grilled squid A squeeze of lemon, a drizzle of olive oil.
🫙Baby squid cazuela - Slow-cooked in garlic, parsley and white wine — the kind of tapa you order twice and dream about after.
